Using Element Plus with Amazon Alexa

In this article, we go through how to pair and unpair Element Plus and Amazon Alexa as well as give you some example Alexa commands and troubleshooting tips.

 

How to Pair Element Plus With Amazon Alexa

1. From the main menu on the left of the Alexa app, navigate to Skills. Navigate to the "Your Skills" button in the top right corner.

2. Search "Sengled Home" from the search box. Sengled Home skill should show up in the search result. Click on the skill.

3. From here, tap on the Sengled Home skill and enable it.

4. Next, enter your Sengled Element Plus account login information and grant permission to the Alexa app.

5. After linking your Element Plus account with the Alexa app, you should rename the bulbs in the Element Plus app to be more easily recognizable. Tap on a scene to check the bulbs that belong to it. Note their names, as you will need to find them in the device list.

Next, open up the device list and find the bulbs grouped under the scene. Then, tap the arrow next to the name of the parent hub. Tap the pencil icon to the right of each bulb to rename them.

6. Now, go back to Alexa and navigate to the Smart Home tab. Scroll towards the bottom and then tap "Discover devices".

7. After Alexa is done discovering your devices, you may want to group them according to their scenes in the Element Plus app. Currently, there is no way to import your scenes directly from the Element Plus app into Alexa. However, you may recreate these groups in Alexa by selecting the relevant bulbs.

How to Unpair Element Plus and Amazon Alexa

1. If you no longer wish to control your Element Plus devices via Alexa, all you need to do is disable the Sengled Home skill within the Alexa app. Simply navigate to the Smart Home tab and disable the skill.

Example Alexa Commands

Turning lights on and off:

  • "Alexa, turn on [bulb/group name]"
  • "Alexa, turn off [bulb/group name]"
  • "Alexa, switch on [bulb/group name]"
  • "Alexa, switch off [bulb/group name]"

 

Adjusting bulb brightness:
(The "brighten" and "dim" commands will increase/decrease brightness by 25%. The "set" command must be used in conjunction with the word "percent".)

  • "Alexa, brighten [bulb/group name]"
  • "Alexa, dim [bulb/group name]"
  • "Alexa, set [bulb/group name] to [X%]"
  • "Alexa, set brightness of [bulb/group name] to [X%]"
